Steffie,

Actually yes, I've given two talks in the short time I've had in the Church. I was actually asked to give my testimony by the Bishop the week after I was baptized.

Someone from the Stake High Council loved it so much they asked me to speak again three or four weeks later at another ward. :)

I feel so blessed to have talked. It is an awesome feeling, especially knowing that something I contributed had such an effect on many people... something I'll post about soon.

Tell your husband not to sweat repeating the sacrament prayer. We all make mistakes and it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things... the thing that matters is everyone in the Church is there to renew their baptismal covenants. It such an honor and privilege to serve the members with the priesthood. :)

This post totally made me smile! I have not experienced this myself, since I'm a girl, but my husband has. He said the first time he blessed the sacrament (in Iraq so I wasn't there) He had to repeat it. He said he was really nervous :)

Have you given a talk yet? You would think the first time would be the scariest, but I have given 5 talks and 6 baptism talks, and it STILL freaks me out!

But as you stated prayer works! He is always there to give us the words we need to speak!

I'm so glad that you love the gospel ordinances so much!

I guess you are correct that baptism and confirmation aren't prayers, however I feel they are important ordinances that involve Heavenly Father.

As for confirmation, from what I understand and read <a href="http://www.lds.org/portal/site/LDSOrg/menuitem.b3bc55cbf541229058520974e44916a0/?vgnextoid=e1fa5f74db46c010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRD&locale=0&sourceId=11d4cb7a29c20110VgnVCM100000176f620a____" rel="nofollow">here</a>, you have to at least say "Receive the Holy Ghost."

Thanks for your input. :)

Technically, baptism and confirmation aren't prayers since Heavenly Father isn't addressed. Also, here isn't a specific set of words that have to be said for confirmation.

You may be interested to know that the endowment and the initiatory ordinances also are rote ordinances.
