Thomas S. Monson was named the 16th Church President on Monday.
He also called to serve with him in the First Presidency, President Henry B. Eyring as his first counselor, and President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, as his second counselor.
It was also announced that President Boyd K. Packer, 83, is the new president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
All I’ve really known was Hinckley as the prophet. I am not too familiar with President Monson but from what I’ve heard from my good friends I am excited to see where the Church goes from here.

He is the first president of the church we had for a long time who has still dark hair!
I loved president Hinckley but I have always felt something special for president Monson. I remember when I was much younger when he came to France. You know how hard this kind of event can be on young children, don’t you? Well my little sister (hwo was 4 years old I believe) was getting a little hyper so I took her for a walk. Then we stopped and I showed her president Monson and taught her what I could about him. And she listen peacefully. This is one of my favorite memory with my little sister (the oldest one, I have two).
